General Manager (Start Date: ~Feb 13)
The General Manager is an integral part of the success of Aspen Sky and is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of daily operations. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about wine and hospitality and has a dynamic, hands-on personality to work with, hire, train, and supervise staff. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what needs to be done. The GM must be able to lead by example and perform all essential job functions of the team, both front of the house and back of the house.
General Manager Job Responsibilities
- General Duties
- Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, motivating, managing and terminating employees that work in the tasting room, cafe, production space and event center
- Manage day to day floor operations to ensure staff delivers extraordinary customer service while executing any/all required operational tasks.
- Supervise and perform hospitality functions, including greeting visitors, providing tastings and wine education, hosting special events, and supporting staff with customer service.
- Sell wine & wine club memberships
- Maintains open communication regarding policies, goals, procedures and special event information. Shares responsibility for achieving annual tasting room sales and revenue goals.
- Ensures the facility is well-stocked and clean.
- Strategy/Sales
- Provides input on food and drink menus.
- Tracks customer behavior and sales and recommending changes
- Admin
- Assists in development and execution of opening and closing procedures, point of sales system, safety, housekeeping and customer service procedures.
- Maintains inventory; Selects and purchases supplies.
- Marketing/Events
- Collaborates with Event/Marketing Manager on special events and marketing activities

Cook (Start Date: ~March 6th)
We are looking for a motivated cook to join our team. We will be opening our doors with a simple menu of cheese boards, salads, flatbreads and paninis. We are looking for someone who is excited for the opportunity to grow with us. It’s a perfect opportunity for an entrepreneurial person with restaurant experience who wants to learn how to run/manage their own kitchen.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on menu offerings
- Help manage inventory/ordering
- Oversee and delegate responsibilities to prep cooks/order takers
- Opportunities to plan & execute on menus for special events/pairing dinners
- Setup and stock necessary stations for service
- Prepare food for service
- Cook menu items while maintaining efficiency and quality
- Take care of food after service by correctly packaging and storing items for refrigeration
- Clean and sanitize kitchen
Experience/Skills
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant kitchen, including prep and line cooking
- Able to maintain a positive and professional attitude with coworkers and guests
- Basic written and communication skills

Production/Facility Assistant (Starting in March)
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the production/packaging of wine and spirits
- Cleaning/sanitizing of equipment
- Participate in bottling/labeling operations including set-up and clean-up
- Event set-up
- Setting up of tables/chairs for events
- Stocking the bar
- General facility maintenance
- Moving furniture
- Small handyman projects
- Landscaping help
Experience/Skills

Tasting Room Attendant (Starting in April)
Looking for an outgoing, energetic, customer service, and sales-oriented person who likes working in a fast-paced, fun environment.
This position entails greeting and serving customers in our winery tasting room, educating customers about our wine club, wines, and winery, operating our point of sales and performing other tasting room-related tasks.
The right candidate should love wine and people, and be able to drive wine sales with their passion, energy, and creativity while promoting hospitality and excellent customer service. The right candidate will also be a team-oriented, can-do kind of person.
Job Responsibilities
- Wine service, presentation, and tending bar
- Learn to make and serve our eight rotating signature cocktails
- Wine sales in a retail capacity
- Stocking of our products and merchandise
- Cleaning of glassware and seating areas
- Cleaning and maintenance of our wine tasting room
Experience/Skills

Prep Cook/Order Taker - 16+ (Starting in April)
We are looking for a part-time prep cook/order taker to join our team. We will be opening our doors with a simple menu of cheese boards, salads, flatbreads and paninis. The prep cook/order taker will assist our cook with prep and some simple cooking/plating, along with taking orders from customers.
Job Responsibilities

Venue Coordinator (Starting in April)
- Serve as the main point of contact and oversee the planning and detailing of private events (mainly weddings) as it pertains to the venue.
- Fields client questions leading up to an event
- Builds strong, positive client relationships
- Create and maintain event plans with client specific details such as timing of ceremony, dinner and reception, beverage order and floorplans
- Coordinate and oversee day of event plans, keeping in line with standard operating procedures while addressing any client concerns
- Open and prep event space according to event order (moving tables/chairs)
- Ensure setup and logistics are correct with respect to client needs
- Fields all facility-based questions
- Works endlessly to ensure guest satisfaction
- Ensures that contract terms are being met by all parties
Experience/Skills
- 2+ years of direct planning experience with weddings and/or events preferred
- Possess an outgoing personality and the desire to provide exceptional customer service
- Convey a professional image to clientele and partners at all times
- Great problem solving skills and generates client confidence
Working Conditions/Compensation
- Must be able to commit to two Saturdays/month
- Must be available to respond to emails/phone calls within 24 hours normally
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to lift at least 45 pounds repeatedly (case of wine)
- Payment is per event @ approximately $30/hour
Custodian - 16+ (Starting in May)
Job Responsibilities
- Cleaning of public areas including, but not limited to, event center, tasting room, hallways, public bathrooms.
- Cleaning duties to include, but not limited to, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, etc. Communicating with team members proactively should any aspect of your cleaning not be completed. Following all health and safety regulations provided.

Working Conditions/Compensation
- Must be 16 years or older
- Must be available on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings + additional flexible availability throughout the week

Special Event Bartender (Starting in May)
From weddings to corporate galas and everything in between, we need friendly, reliable bar staff!
Job Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers by mixing and serving drink orders
- Setup, manage and take down the bar from start to finish
- Serve as the venue point of contact in the evening hours
Experience/Skills
- Willingness to roll-up your sleeves and do what needs to be done
- Excellent people and communication skills
- They are energetic, confident, have a strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages and practice good time management skills
- They must be able to work quickly, in fast-paced environments and methodically
Working Conditions/Compensation
- Flexible schedule; events assigned 3 months prior
- $30/hour + any additional tips
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be able to commit to at least two Saturdays/month

Our team is currently small, but we are excited to add to it in the coming weeks! We are actively hiring for our General Manager and Assistant General Manager. The Triple Bottom Line
I took a class in college where we explored the concept of the triple bottom line – people, planet, & profit. Candidly, I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand how a company could prioritize social and environmental issues and still be profitable. Fast-forward ten years (or so) and Aspen Sky is being built on the concept – we want to be more than just another business, we want to have a positive impact on our community.
Aspen Sky Construction Update – November
I can’t imagine taking on this project with anyone with my dad as my builder. As many of you know, it is an incredibly challenging time to build. Between supply chain issues and a lack of workers, this hasn’t been the easiest project. But it is coming together and we are still on track for a Spring open – thanks to Kahl Construction.

Ground Breaking Ceremony
On June 1st, we celebrated our ground breaking ceremony. We were joined by our family and by multiple people that have helped us along this journey thus far. Kids ran around, we gave “tours” and enjoyed some bubbles and food. I wanted to share some of what I said that day.
